6018625539_474d5b8d43_bPlease join Slow Food Columbus at Flying J Farm on Saturday, August 17, 2013.

We love for this dinner to have all at once the familiar feeling of dropping into a friend’s house for dinner and the extraordinary experience of dinner al fresco on a fully working farm.

We want to pour you a drink and chat while we put the finishing touches on the appetizers.  We want to take you on a tour of the farm.

Then, we want to feed you.

We want you to taste vegetables harvested from these fields mere moments before your arrival.  Enjoy eggs gathered from the hens happily clucking just across the yard. Have a slice of bread baked that morning by artisans, slathered with cheeses cultivated and aged mere miles away from where you stand.  Savor every bit of dinner with a glass of wine in your hand.

Relax and chat with old friends and make some new ones.  Renew your commitment to living the Slow Food life: supporting all that is good, clean and fair.

Come over for dinner.

To thank our members for their ongoing support of Slow Food, member tickets ($75) will go on sale Monday, July 29, at noon. Nonmember tickets ($100) go on sale Tuesday at noon. (Not coincidentally, membership costs $25.) This event sells out very quickly, so if you want to be certain to get a ticket, make sure your membership is current before Sunday night. Because first thing Monday morning, Slow Food USA will send us a current member list, and by midmorning we will email a password to all current members so that they can access ticket sales at noon. Attendees who would prefer to camp by the lake overnight are welcome to do so; breakfast will be available for an additional $10 per person.

As usual, proceeds from this event will be made available to chefs, artisans, and farmers (like Farmer Dick) who are selected to represent central Ohio at Terra Madre, Slow Food’s biennial conference of the world of sustainability. In addition, this year’s proceeds will fund a food garden in Africa. Your ticket purchase not only helps fund the garden but gives you a vote as to which country should receive it.

Please join us at the farm for our favorite event of the year!

Tickets available now! Visit Brown Paper Tickets (link) to purchase. Members can enter the code that they should have received via email. (If you’re a current member but did not receive a code, forward your membership receipt to
