Slow Food Columbus

Congratulations — we’re official!

Posted on:

Our application to Slow Food USA has received preliminary approval, which means that Slow Food Columbus actually exists! We still have to fill out the paperwork before we can actually do anything, but now we can at least plan to do things.

Congratulations to Colleen for spearheading this and making it happen, and thanks to everyone for your enthusiasm and support and guidance. Cin-cin!

Congratulations! I was just perusing the Slow Food website the other day and wondering when Columbus would get a convivium. I look forward to reading and participating.

Thanks, Rachel! I don’t know that we’re going to get into the habit of commenting on every comment, but I just had to jump in because I took a peek at the URL for the blog that you supplied — allamericanalcohol.blogspot.com — and Colleen and I agreed that applying the locavore idea to alcohol is really clever and creative! We applaud your spirit of adventure, and we’ll be keeping an eye on your progress.

That’s the spirit!! First thing is to visit the website at slowfoodcolumbus.org. Look under the snail for a “Join Slow Food!” link and click on it. That will take you to the Slow Food USA membership page. The way this works is that you join the national organization and choose a convivium. At this point the Columbus convivium SHOULD be available as an option; I am on the road and cannot confirm this at the moment. If not, let us know.

When you’ve signed up, send a quick email confirming this fact and saying you’d like to lend a hand to the events@slowfoodcolumbus.org email address (also under the snail). That will help us keep track of who’s interested in doing what. Also feel free to tell us a bit about yourself if you’d like, because… well, because we’re just the curious types, I suppose.

Thanks for your interest and for writing in!
